A Planet without Landfills
In 2018, Pahang-born Geeva Samynathan lived close to the golden sand beach of Teluk Chempedak. Her heart swelled with concern for our precious oceans and mother nature.
She realised that creating awareness was merely scratching the surface and that people needed to be more involved to understand more to implement effective change.
Various communities who shared her passion and spirit for change beyond creating awareness joined forces to collect and document trash that edged a trail on our coastlines.
Our organisational name, MY Clean Beach, was founded by John Petruse, a Certified Sustainability (ESG) Practitioner. He's one of the co-founders. It comes with the tagline, "My beach is local, and I own it. It's part of me and my country.".
MY Clean Beach exists under our officially formed and registered company, Bumi Biru PLT.
The name Bumi Biru is in Bahasa Melayu. It means Blue Planet. 70% of our planet is made up of oceans. We aim to play our part in restoring the health of our planet. With the support of communities, businesses and government agencies, we're determined to make a difference.
We ensure all collected waste is 100% repurposed.
We want to prevent it from ending up in landfills, where it would eventually return to the ocean again.
We dream of a PLANET without landfill, when everything is recycled or composted.
