My Clean Beach ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Wira Plastik mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.
This policy is governed by the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) of Malaysia.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Full name and email address (for account registration)
- Demographic information: age group, gender identity, and other optional profile details
- Photographs submitted during recycling drop-off submissions (item photo and location photo)
- Support ticket content and any communications you send us
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- App usage data: features accessed, drop-off activity, points earned
- Device information: operating system, device type (for technical support purposes only)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account
- To verify recycling drop-off submissions and award points
- To display environmental impact statistics to you and in aggregate community dashboards
- To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, submission confirmations) via Resend
- To respond to your support requests
- To improve the App through anonymised, aggregated analytics
3. Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share your information only with:
- Supabase (database and authentication provider) — data is stored on servers within their cloud infrastructure. Supabase processes data in accordance with GDPR-compliant standards.
- Resend (transactional email service) — your email address is shared solely for the purpose of delivering emails you have requested or that are necessary for the App to function.
- Law enforcement or regulatory authorities — only when required by Malaysian law or a valid court order.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
5. Your Rights Under PDPA
As a data subject under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Withdraw consent to data processing at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the Department of Personal Data Protection Malaysia (PDPD)

6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with their data, please contact us immediately at privacy@mycleanbeach.org and we will delete that information.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security policies on our database, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page and notify users via email or an in-app notification where the changes are material.
